ABOUT US

We created hoodu.me because we were tired of seeing butt cracks in the Masjid.

No, seriously.

Every time we bent down for rukoo or sujood, there it was right in our face — jeans slipping, backs exposed, t-shirts riding up, and sometimes even a half peach in full view from the brother or uncle in front of us.

Not actually that funny.  Bit distasteful to be honest and totally avoidable.

These brothers didn’t want to wear thobes.

That’s when we thought:
“Why is it so hard to find modest streetwear that actually fits how we live?”
So we made it ourselves.

The Brand Name?

We also wanted to flip the meaning of what “hood” means to young people.

Many brands in the streetwear space push a message of money, girls, and a fast life whilst making your way out of the ghetto.
That’s not us.
They're not our values.
That’s not the legacy we want to leave behind.

So we’ve taken the word “hood” — and given it a new meaning.
One rooted in modesty and identity.

In Egyptian Arabic, “hoodume” (هدومي) means “my clothes”.

What We Stand For

We believe that modest doesn’t mean outdated.
That you can represent your deen, your people, your neighbourhood — and still look clean doing it.

So we designed:

  • Longline hoodies that cover your awrah.
  • Thicker, longer t-shirts that don’t ride up.
  • Tracksuits and joggers that fit well but still give you space.
  • Quality that lasts.

We also put our money where our mouth is:

  • A 12-month repair-or-replace guarantee on our hoodies.
  • A portion of our profits go towards building mosques in communities that need one.

Who's it for?
Last year we went to the Excel expo and alongside brothers commending us for our longline hoodies, we had Aunties and sisters also representing. Our products have proven to be truly unisex, so we came up with the tagline:

A brand for da mandem. And de gal-dem.
